The
Daughters of the Republic of Texas, as an organization and
individuals, are committed to the preservation of our
Texas heritage. It was that goal that brought the
organization together in 1891.
The
efforts of our early Daughters preserved the Alamo which
has become the standard that the world uses to recognize
“Texas.” That work did not stop there.
Museums
owned and/or operated by DRT help to preserve and promote
our unique Texas History. DRT is preserving the physical
structures of these historic places and artifacts from the
Republic of Texas era. The public can see and touch our
ancestor’s way of life at the Alamo, French Legation,
Gaines Oliphant House and Republic of Texas Museum.
The
Museums owned and/or operated by DRT include:
The
Alamo
Site of
the early Mission San Antonio de Valero which was
constructed in 1724. This is one of the most famous
battlegrounds of the Texas Revolution.
Admission to the Alamo is free. The Alamo is open every
day of the year except Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Our hours are 9:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. Monday through

serve visitors, the Alamo will remain open on Fridays and
