Your purchase of this attractive special license plate benefits DRT's historic preservation and education in Texas History.

 

The Native Texan License Plate was sanctioned by House Bill 2971, Section 504.637, which was enacted on September 1, 2003, Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT) License Plates. Monies from the sale of these plates shall be used only for the purpose of: (1) preserving Texas historic sites; or (2) funding education programs that teach Texas history.

"The Native Texan License Plate Project was conceived by DRT member, Elaine Milam Vetter. With the support of the 2001-2003 Board of Management and President General Virginia Van Cleave, Elaine saw it through the approval process within the DRT organization, interfaced with TxDot, secured the donation of the artwork from Texas artist Benjamin Knox, helped raise the required $15,000 deposit, and worked with initial sponsor, Senator Jeff Wentworth, Rep. Geanie Morrison, Rep. Linda Harper-Brown, and the 78th Texas State Legislature to secure passage of HB 2971, Section 504.637. Members who have served as DRT NTLP Chairmen are Sarabeth Smith and Diane Lynch; the Legislative Committee Chairman was Zia Miller.
