The
purpose of this contest is to discover a fourth grade teacher
that stimulates a student’s interest in the early history of
Texas using creative ideas or manipulatives. Winning
participants have the experience to win at three (3) different
levels.
-
First (1st), a winner will be selected by the Sponsoring
Chapter and will receive recognition from that DRT Chapter.
-
Second (2nd), the Chapter will submit their winner to be
judged on a District level. The District Representative will
then submit that to the Fifth Vice President General. Our
Association is divided into ten (10) districts, each District
submitting a winner.
-
Third (3rd), the Education and Flag Committee with the
guidance of the Fifth Vice President General will select one
state winner.
The
winning fourth grade outstanding teacher will be invited to
attend the Daughters of the Republic of Texas Historical
Evening, May, 2009 in Killeen. The winner will be asked to share
his/her ideas on techniques with teaching Texas history at the
