4th and 7th Grade Texas History Teacher Contest 

TEXAS HISTORY 4TH AND 7TH GRADE TEACHER CONTEST RULES 

The  teacher  applicant  should prepare  an  application  that  includes  the  following information: 

Cover Sheet should include: 

(1)   Teacher’s name

§         Name of School, School District, and City

§         Name of Principal

§         “Daughters of the Republic of Texas”

§         The Sponsoring DRT Chapter and City

§         Chapter contact person and telephone number

§         School of the winning teachers will receive $1,000 each

§         Letters of recommendations, limit of three (3), one (1) page each

(2)   Teacher applicant’s vita/resume

(3)   Applicant   should   submit   his/her   thoughts   about   teaching   Texas history, manner of instructions in the classroom, innovations conceived and   executed for seventh and/or fourth graders, and response of students. This should be typed on 8 ½ by 11-inch paper.

The winning 4th grade and 7th grade teachers will be invited to attend the DRT Convention to be held in May, 2009, in Killeen. The teacher and a guest

(1)   Will be guests of the DRT at the Historical Evening Dinner. Any other expenses incurred by the teachers attending this event will be the teacher’s responsibility. The winners will also receive a monetary award of  $700 and  a plaque and dinner for two

(2)   The awards will be presented by the 5th Vice President General.
