4th and 7th Grade Texas History Essay Contest
 

TEXAS HISTORY ESSAY CONTEST RULES: 

Essay Subjects 2008-2009: 

     4th  Grade           Jose Antonio Navarro

 

     7th  Grade           The Angel of Goliad

Bibliography/References:

A minimum of four (4) references are needed – no more than two (2) of which may be Internet references.  The essay must be in your OWN WORDS. Bibliography/reference information should be on a separate sheet of paper. 

Word Count

  • 4th  Grade  Essay  –  The  body  of  the  essay  should  be  between  500  and  525 words.
  • 7th Grade Essay  - The body of the essay should be between 800 and 825 words
  • Dates,  example  March  6,  1836  and  names,  example  Sam  Houston,  Stephen  F. Austin shall be counted as one word.
  • Items not counted in word count are: title, cover sheet info.    and bibliography/reference

THE ESSAY MAY BE HANDWRITTEN OR TYPED, DOUBLE SPACED ON 8 ½ BY 11-INCH PAPER

COMPUTER FONT SIZE SHALL NOT BE LARGER THAN 12 point 

All essays must be submitted in English.

Cover Sheet:

1)  Student Name   

2)  Name of School and City; Chapter and City

3)  Title of Essay      

4) “Daughters of Republic of Texas”

5)  Name of Sponsoring DRT

6)  Chapter contact person and phone number
